Johannes/ STOERMER Co. -- Commercial & Personal Specialty Lines

Our History

Johannes/Stoermer Company was founded in 1968. The history of specialty markets began when the need arose during adverse times.

In 1968 Johannes/Stoermer Co. began providing "riot" insurance; fire insurance for restaurants and properties in urban areas where other companies feared to tread. "Standard markets continue to steer away from day care centers, liquor liability, residential care facilities, and a growing list of specialty commercial and personal risks that allows Johannes/Stoermer Co. to continue to grow," stated Al Stoermer in an interview as the firm celebrated 30 years of continuous service.

Johannes/Stoermer Co. writes over 40 different classes of specialty insurance.

Easy to do Business With

Indications/Quotes - "Premium Indications" are not quotes but strictly educated guesses as to what a premium may run given the information supplied to the underwriter. To firm up the "indication" we need a complete written application and any additional information required by the company. We confirm a quotation in writing. Terms and conditions are set forth and numbers shown separately for premiums, taxes and fees. We urge our clients to review all quotations. There are occasions when all coverages requested may not be available. We will indicate this, but need your assistance to verify that all coverages are addressed.

Binding Authority - Binding authority rests completely with Johannes/Stoermer Company. In order to bind an account we must be notified in writing. We will accept phone requests (with mail or fax follow-up) for immediate binding. Note: Binding an account will obligate the agent for the minimum earned premium, if any. It is suggested money be collected from the insured in order to bind coverages.

Payment of Account - If a down payment or net check is required, it will be so stated on the quotation. Since we do not require a signed agreement to do business with an agent, the down payment is necessary to protect all parties concerned. Payment is due even if the policy has not yet been received. However, the majority of policies issued by Johannes/Stoermer Company are in the agent's hand within 10 working days of binding.

Account Current - Terms are available for agents doing a large volume of business. This is done on an individual basis and should be discussed with Ed Stoermer.

Premium Financing - financing is available through Dayton Premium Finance Company, a division of Johannes/Stoermer Co. Financing is exclusively provided for business placed with us.

Claims - The most important element of an insurance policy is claims processing. All claims are reported directly to Johannes/Stoermer Co by completing an Acord Loss Notice form. This can be mailed or faxed. Upon receipt of a claim notice we will immediately notify the company involved. Should your insured experience any problems, we will provide additional assistance.
